Our Sourcing Standards

Thoughtful Materials. Responsible Choices. Lasting Craft.

At Knit & Knot Studio, the story of every piece begins long before it hits the workbench. The quality of our materials matter, but so does how they were grown, harvested, manufactured, and brought into our shop.

Local & Regional First

We prioritize hardwoods and textiles sourced from regional mills, fiber suppliers, and small makers here in the Southeast. Keeping our sourcing close to home means:

  • Lower transportation footprint

  • Supporting local businesses and craftspeople

  • Materials that are already acclimated to the environment where they’ll live

Certified & Responsible

We actively seek out suppliers who can prove their practices. That includes:

  • FSC-certified hardwoods from responsibly managed forests

  • Organic and OEKO-TEX certified textiles, free from harmful chemicals

  • Vendors who maintain transparent and ethical labor standards

Reclaimed & Sustainable Options

Not every material has to be fresh off the mill or loom. We often incorporate:

  • Reclaimed slabs and urban lumber

  • Offcuts and remnants from larger projects

  • Deadstock fabrics and fibers that would otherwise go to waste

These choices reduce our footprint and bring history and uniqueness to each piece.

Why it Matters

Furniture and décor aren’t disposable. By holding ourselves to strict sourcing standards across both wood and textiles, we’re making sure what we create lasts for decades—pieces that carry both beauty and integrity into your home, your business, or your community.
